Spokane Skill Center has started converting the truck

This is an F250 truck with a 6.9 liter diesel engine that is being converted to run on waste vegetable oil. The automotive department of the Skills Center of Spokane is working to install the grease car kit. For information about the Skills Center, go to http://www.skillscenter.com/Automotive/index.stm . Below, Skills Center has been working on bolting on the tank and the heated fuel filter. (Nice work!) They have also cut a hole in the truck bed to run the heated cooling lines through.

Modified veggie fuel tank that has coils through it through which the heated coolant can flow to heat up the veggie oil.

This switch allows one to start on diesel, then switch when the temperature is high enough. It also has a third position to purge the fuel lines of veggie oil before turning of the truck.

Above, teacher Walt, shows how they are mounting the heated fuel filter close to the coolant lines near the dashboard heater of the truck. Next week the plan is to hook up the electrical parts and the Vegtherm.
